Now that elections have passed and we got our very first black and socially conscious president (woo hoo!) to take office on January 20th, 2009, let’s get prepared to elect another one once Obama’s term is over. And I say it should come from the hip hop world. Why? I ask why not!

We have some conscious emcees and musicians out there that have already learned to rock the mic. Oration is a mandatory skill for the office. I think that is the single biggest attribute that won Obama the office. And hip hoppers already got the popularity thing down too with fans in every state and area code! So that should help out when it comes down to voting and rating at exit polls. Conscious emcees have also learned how to balance budgets since they are probably the most underpaid artists in the game. So we’ll have a pretty stable budget determining process once elected.

What else? Well I think conscious hip hoppers got everything to properly occupy the office and do a better job than there predecessors.

• Economics: Put out a flat tax, raise money through multiple avenues (ringtones helped us out when we were bleeding from record sales), and learn the art of the hustle!
• Judicial System: Ban guns, stop the racial inequality when it comes to arrests and murders, and legalize marijuana. Seems pretty simple and straightforward here.
• Extraterrestrial Life: We know they already exist. We call them George Bush, Dick Cheney, and all the other crazy neo-Republicans that try to rule the world.
• International Relations: Start touring and becoming popular/cool again amongst the world. Then try to enforce some morality, through leadership and example instead of force.
• Military Experience: Just watch The Wire and Generation Kill. Taught us everything we need to know about being a soldier and commanding your people.
• Education: Make higher education available to all children, get rid of national testing that focuses on stats instead of real change, and get rid of tenure for teachers.
• Gay Marriage: Who you love is your choice. We all have to love somebody or the world just develops hate.
