Fantastic, Vol. 2 | Slum Village

A true classic. Production by J Dilla, incredibly smart lyrics and smooth flow by the emcees, and collaborations with some of the best artists in the game at the time like Common, D’Angelo, Jazzy Jeff, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, and Busta Rhymes. This is an album you pop in the sound system or ipod and simply zone out. Removal of stress + mind thoughts guaranteed!

Blackbird | Alter Bridge

I realize this post may put my credibility on the line, but just hear me out. Against popular opinion, I used to really like Creed. I thought their first album provided a fresh look at the grunge genre and was really good all the way through… I even liked the second album. Then it became quite apparent Scott Stapp was… well, we all know what I’d like to call him. Then I saw a single ray of hope… Alter Bridge, consisting of all original members sans Scott Stapp. What a wonderful concept.

Kala | M.I.A.

Kala (2007) is M.I.A.’s second album and was released almost a year ago from today. It was originally meant to be produced here in the U.S. by Timbaland and his studios but due to Visa problems, it couldn’t be done. So M.I.A. got creative and started finding her own production people by visiting several countries in Africa, India, and Sri Lanka to come up with the sound. When you hear the album, you’ll think some of the beats were recorded literally on the streets of these countries!

Video Interview | George Watsky

George Watsky is another one of my heroes. He’s smart, articulate, artistic, and has a real unique way of entertaining - poetry. Learn how he’s launched his career and set himself up for obnoxious success.

Self-Titled | Ian Moore

There’s something missing among the selection of artists I’ve chosen to share. Every so often it hits me I don’t have nearly enough jazz to properly represent my personal tastes. Well, today it hit me I’m slacking not just in jazz, but on the blues end too. I aim to change that, and I’m gonna kick it off with some good ol’ Texas blues.

Common

Linked to Kanye West apart of his record label G.O.O.D., Common is due out to release his 8th solo album entitled Invincible Summer on September 23rd. And like a music crack fiend, I’m itching and scratching to get my hands on a copy of it.

Seer

I have a habit of trying to ascertain the essence of a band’s sound by mixing sounds well defined by two or three artists. I recently ran into a band with the most peculiar mix bands… Tool, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, and Coldplay. Four completely different sounds merged to form a unique, yet familiar sound.

No World For Tomorrow | Coheed & Cambria

There’s something about being an obnoxious listener that you’re never short of few bands you’ve chosen to ignore for years and years just because everyone told you they were good. We’ve heard this story about me before, and you’ll here it again. The particular band of interest this time around, Coheed & Cambria, has just put out their fourth full length… and I just now gave them on honest shot… and four more sales.

Train of Thought | Reflection Eternal

Talib Kweli’s first full length album without Mos Def is by far his best work to date. Though he’s grown insurmountably over the last several years, this album has been engraved into the minds of hip hop enthusiasts and taken precedence of everything he has done and will do. It’s what Illmatic (1994) was to Nas, what Reasonable Doubt (1996) was to Jay-Z, and what Born To Do It (2001) was to Craig David. It’s well produced (DJ Hi-Tek), its raw, and it’s just damn good music!

World’s Fastest Guitar Player

World’s Fastest Guitar Player - I was skeptical at first too, but tell me playing Flight of the Bumble Bee at 320 bpm isn’t impressive.
