Death Metal with Talent | Opeth

Opeth released a new album on June 3rd entitled Watershed (2008). And let me tell you, it is one of the strongest rock/metal albums I’ve heard in a very long time. I will even go as far as to say since the release of 10,000 Days by Tool. Their latest single entitled “Porcelain Heart” summarizes the depth.

Metallica to bloggers: don’t review our music

Metallica to bloggers: don’t review our music
“[Metallica] invites music critics in London to listen to six tracks off the band’s forthcoming album… its management then contacted the blogs in question and asked them to take down the reviews.”

Kanye West

Granted, Kanye West might be one of the cockiest emcess and producers in the game. He might hog the spotlight at times and throw a fit occasionally if something doesn’t go his way. He also may brag about things that yet have not happened. And Kanye will talk about how he’s the greatest, or atleast a younger brother to the greatest (Jay-Z). I’m here to tell you - don’t disregard that. He is who he is and he has done what he has done because of his character.

DJ Krush | Stepping Stones

Can you imagine the best of what hip hop has to offer lyrically mashed up with what the best international + Japanese music has to offer beat/tempo wise? That’s what I heard when I first got a listen of DJ Krush’s compilation entiled Stepping Stones - The Self-Remixed Best (2006). It’s wicked different from the U.S. based hip hop we’re used to!

10 Years

A newcomer to my ears, 10 Years, has put out two amazing albums entitled Division (2008) and The Autumn Effect (2005) that I’ve had a chance to hear. Both albums are play from start to end type of music. I’ve probably listened to each over 50 times and never did I pick a single and move away. And you’re damn sure that after listening to an album that many times, I remember every change in beat and every word of their lyrics. I’m so glad their lyrics are actually quality and conscious!

Strongest Voices in Rock

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve written quite a few posts on bands that either have really harsh vocals or no vocals at all. This got me thinking and gave me the inspiration for our next featured post. I’ve put together a list of singers with the strongest voices in today’s rock.

TRY! | John Mayer Trio

For those of you that have met me, this may come as a surprise that I happen to own a couple John Mayer albums. Honestly, most of his music is too mainstream for me which is why it came to me as a surpise when I heard him say Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of his biggest influences. I didn’t buy it for a second… that is until I heard TRY! - John Mayer Trio Live In Concert.
